160 South Main St. Sparta, North Carolina
Sparta Presbyterian Church is a member of the Salem Presbytery of North Carolina of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), located in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic.
We are called by God to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in worship and service to others, and to promote peace and justice in the world.
The church's Congregation and Session are governed in accordance with the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The local church is governed by the Session comprised of Elders who are charged with the responsibility to oversee the work and worship of the local Church.
The mission of Sparta Presbyterian Women is to build a caring community of women in our church through prayer, Bible study, service and fellowship. We have two circles that meet monthly September through May and some additional gatherings each year that bring all Sparta women together for a meal and program for fun and inspiration.
Sparta Presbyterian Women support several organizations, i.e. “Heiffer International”, “Children’s Hope Alliance”, and “People Helping People” and participate in a variety of mission projects that include making kits for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and “Days for Girls”, making Christmas stockings for a children’s residential program, contributing gifts for local nursing homes and hosting an ecumenical prayer shawl ministry.
The various times offer Sparta women a variety of options. All women of the church are considered to be part of Sparta Presbyterian Women. Women are encouraged to join a circle and become actively involved in Presbyterian Women activities.
